A Thomasville Tradition

Where beautiful gifts are curated... Since 1923.

About The Gift Shop

For more than a century, The Gift Shop has been part of the fabric of downtown Thomasville. Founded in 1923 by sisters Alva Balfour and Mary Balfour King, the shop first opened its doors at 117 North Broad Street, where it quickly became known for thoughtfully curated gifts and exceptional service.

As Thomasville grew, so did The Gift Shop. The business moved to 107 South Broad Street in 1936 before finding its permanent home at 103 South Broad Street in 1982—a beautifully restored historic building that continues to welcome generations of shoppers today.

Throughout its history, The Gift Shop has passed through the hands of remarkable caretakers, each preserving its reputation for timeless style, gracious hospitality, and meaningful gift giving. From Anne Searcy's elegant gift collections in the 1940s to Marguerite Williams' restoration of the historic building and stewardship of the business, each chapter has honored the traditions established in 1923.

In January 2024, Debbie and Michael Abdoney became the newest owners of The Gift Shop. While much has changed over the past century, one thing has remained constant: creating a place where every gift is chosen with intention, beautifully presented, and enthusiastically received.

Today, you'll still find many of the traditions that have defined The Gift Shop for generations—fine china, crystal, home décor, bridal registry, entertaining essentials, and thoughtful gifts—alongside carefully selected new collections that reflect the way families celebrate today. We are honored to carry forward a legacy that has been part of Thomasville for over 100 years.

Meet the Team (and their favorite patterns!)

Daisy Anthony

Daisy has been a valued member of The Gift Shop team since 2021 and serves as our Store Manager & Customer Care Manager. She loves building lasting relationships with customers and helping them find the perfect gift. Her favorite hostess gift is a collection of coordinating paper goods, beautifully wrapped with a signature bow. Daisy's favorite china pattern is the Pickard Colorsheen Collection, especially in Apple Green, which she loves for its fresh, timeless style.

Mollie Cohen

Mollie joined The Gift Shop in the fall of 2024 as our Bridal Registry Consultant, bringing with her a passion for beautiful homes, gracious entertaining, and all things Southern. With a background in education, marketing, sales, and purchasing, she loves getting to know each couple and building lasting relationships with the families she serves. Her favorite china pattern is Herend Rothschild Bird, a timeless classic she loves for its elegance and heirloom appeal.

Jason Little

Jason joined The Gift Shop during the 2024 holiday season, initially creating our Christmas trees, window displays, and seasonal décor before becoming our full-time Design Specialist. He loves bringing products to life through inspiring displays that wow customers and spark new ideas for their homes. His favorite china pattern is Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf, which he loves because it "manages to be classic and contemporary at the same time."

Lauri Parrott

After spending 29 years in the elementary classroom, Lauri "changed lanes" and joined The Gift Shop in February 2025, bringing with her a lifelong passion for beautiful things, thoughtful planning, and meaningful customer experiences. A South Georgia native, she discovered her love for fine china while working at Godwin Jewelers in high school, where she learned the history behind beloved patterns and fell in love with creating elegant displays.

As our Strategic Planner & Purchasing Manager, Lauri is always on the hunt for the next special find. She loves discovering unique products, reimagining timeless classics, and believes the smallest details—from a warm greeting to a beautifully wrapped package—create unforgettable experiences. Her favorite china pattern is Herend Fortuna Rust, and true to her motto, "Live life in color," you'll almost always find her wearing a pop of orange.

Outside the shop, Lauri enjoys cooking, boating on Lake Burton, traveling, and never passes an antique mall without stopping– even if that means the road trip adds an extra hour (or two!). She's been married to her husband, Vann, for over 30 years and is the proud mom of Jacob, Ben, and Anna Lauri.
